Rithmic vs Tradovate for Trade Copying
A practical comparison of Rithmic and Tradovate for futures trade copying, including account login, OAuth, prop firm routes, and operational risk.
The login model is different
Tradovate can use OAuth-style authorization, while Rithmic workflows commonly use account credentials, system selection, and approved API access. A copier should reflect that difference in setup instead of forcing one generic connection form.
Prop firm coverage varies
Many futures prop firms offer either Tradovate, Rithmic, or both. Traders should choose the route their account actually supports and verify that the copier can see the correct account ID before live routing.
Position reconciliation matters on both
Neither route should be treated as fire-and-forget. The copier needs to compare expected follower state against broker-reported state so exits do not create ghost positions when an account is out of sync.
Use the route that matches the account
The better route is the one your broker or prop firm has provisioned correctly. A strong copier can support both while keeping the setup and health messages clear for each account.
